about
A hangover from youth played out over a four to the floor, both a hymn to going out whilst secretly pleased you stayed in...
lyrics
No more push ups left to press
No more muscles left to flex
No more discs to forget to eject
No longer wowed by blue screens,
no longer wowed by what comes next
Are you still feeling the effects? Are you still feeling the effects?
(Of Saturday night... Of Saturday night)
Are you still feeling the effects?
I guess I’m still feeling the effects of Saturday night,
(Of Saturday night)
No more dance moves to perfect
Cos there’s nobody left to impress
No more carbohydrates to digest
(up to) 48 hours in your bloodstream
Paracetamol still makes you sweat
Are you still feeling the effects? Are you still feeling the effects?
(Of Saturday night... Of Saturday night)
Are you still feeling the effects? I guess I’m still feeling the effects,
(Of Saturday night... Of Saturday night)
Are you still feeling the effects?
I guess I’m still feeling the effects of Saturday night,
(Of Saturday night)
Are you still feeling the effects? I guess I’m still feeling the effects,
(Of Saturday night... Of Saturday night)
Can’t get up off the floor, can’t get up off the floor

I bought the 12 inch single for Bela Lugosi’s Dead at Fred’s records in St. John’s, Newfoundland in the eighties and it remained a treasured item in my collection until it was lost, left behind, stolen, loaned out, whatever. I accepted that that item was lost to time and likely irreplaceable. Hence my utter shock to see that I will once again hear this evocative masterwork on vinyl along with an extra three tracks. I recall Boys was included on the B-side of that long list single. Thank you! skritti
